About Reita Faria
Reita Faria Powell was born in the year 1945 in Mumbai, India. She became the first Indian and Asian woman who won the title of Miss World in 1966. She lives in the Dublin, Ireland with her family. She got married to the David Powell (an endocrinologist) in the year 1971 and has two children and five grandchildren.
How Reita Faria became the First Indian Woman Miss World
She has started her career by winning the Miss Mumbai crown as well as the Eve’s Weekly Miss India competition. Her hard work and continuity led her to win the miss world title in the year 1966. After winning the title of miss world she has concentrated towards her medical studies instead of being a model or film actress. She has completed her M.B.B.S. degree from the Grant Medical College & Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals. After that, she continued her study from the King’s College Hospital, London.
