Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi, 3rd Indian Prime Minister, was an icon of the National Congress party of the India. She served in India as a 2nd longest serving Prime Minister from 1966 to 1977 and from 1980 till her death in 1984. She was the only woman to hold the office. She was the daughter of first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. She was titled as the “Woman of the Millennium” in 1999 in a poll from BBC. She was the woman of tenure in India who has left her prints over lacs of the Indian women.
