Begum Hazrat Mahal, a Begum of Awadh and first spouse of the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, has marked her name in the Indian history for her great revolutionary activities against British East India Company in the year 1857. She was an iron lady who had managed the state of Awadh after the exile of her husband to the Calcutta.
